Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Jaguars: B.

Nobody had Cody Schrader this high, and it is not close. The Jaguars reached 26 spots to get him at pick 211. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

However the rest shakes out, Chambers at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want.

Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
They jumped the gun on T'Vondre Sweat, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick89 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
A tidy little value on Brenden Rice in the 89th overall pick, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick96 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
They paid sticker price for Zak Zinter in Round 3, Pick 33, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick104 Rnd4 Max Melton
A premium they did not need to pay, Max Melton a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick114 Rnd4 Drake Nugent
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Drake Nugent well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick116 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson in No. 116 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick155 Rnd5 Justin Rogers
A reach for Justin Rogers in the 155th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick211 Rnd6 Cody Schrader
A wild overpay on Cody Schrader in the Round 6 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick237 Rnd7 Steele Chambers
They barely believed it either: Steele Chambers still on the board at Round 7, Pick 17. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
