Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B+
ValueC NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB
McCoy should have been long gone. The Jaguars pounced, and earned a B+.

If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Jaguars, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McCoy.

The cost of the Sweat reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.

Pick Analysis
Pick36 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
A wild overpay on T'Vondre Sweat in the 36th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick48 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
They paid a round early for Jackson Powers-Johnson in pick No. 48, more than the board wanted. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick63 Rnd2 Johnny Wilson
The board had cheaper options than Johnny Wilson at pick 63, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick79 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
No edge and no loss on Christian Haynes in Round 3, Pick 15; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick96 Rnd3 Braelon Allen
They liked Braelon Allen enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 96. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick100 Rnd3 Max Melton
They jumped the gun on Max Melton, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick114 Rnd4 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at the 114th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick116 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson in Round 4, Pick 16 is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick155 Rnd5 Darius Robinson
No drama and no debate, Darius Robinson went about where he belonged in pick No. 155. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick195 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Gabe Hall. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick211 Rnd6 Bru McCoy
Bru McCoy in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick237 Rnd7 Fentrell Cypress II
They did well to land Fentrell Cypress II in pick 237, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
