Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Jaguars, and a B to prove it.

You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Jaguars spent the Round 4 slot on Cade Stover while safety, linebacker and other spots sat unaddressed.

They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Every board in the league had Van Pran lower, and that gap is the story. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In pick No. 22 they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick54 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
No edge and no loss on T'Vondre Sweat in pick No. 54; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick56 Rnd2 T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa at the 56th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick79 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
They paid a round early for Sedrick Van Pran in Round 3, Pick 15, more than the board wanted. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick87 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick96 Rnd3 Braelon Allen
They went early on Braelon Allen in slot 96, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick114 Rnd4 Cooper Beebe
A tidy little value on Cooper Beebe in No. 114, a step better than break-even. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick116 Rnd4 Cade Stover
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Cade Stover at TE-EDGE with safety, linebacker and other spots open.
Pick155 Rnd5 Darius Robinson
They paid sticker price for Darius Robinson in pick 155, and that is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick211 Rnd6 Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten in the 211th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick237 Rnd7 Fentrell Cypress II
They did well to land Fentrell Cypress II in slot 237, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
