Rbeam117 DRAFTING FOR THEJaguars

FutureB-
The Jaguars kept it disciplined and banked a B. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Jaguars would have aced it. Phillip Webb at slot 223 is 117 spots clear of where he belonged.
That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In the 5th overall pick they get an anchor for the defensive front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick32
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick70
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston in slot 70 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick96
Rnd3
Jake Majors
They went early on Jake Majors in No. 96, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick106
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson is a better player than pick No. 106 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick143
Rnd5
Lathan Ransom
Lathan Ransom in the 143rd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick169
Rnd5
Jabbar Muhammad
Jabbar Muhammad slipping to the Round 5 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick184
Rnd6
Mitchell Evans
You do not let a tight end like Mitchell Evans reach slot 184 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick198
Rnd6
Earnest Greene III
The board fumbled Earnest Greene III all the way to pick 198, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick223
Rnd7
Phillip Webb
They reached a country mile for Phillip Webb at No. 223, and the board is aghast. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick244
Rnd7
Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne in Round 7, Pick 26 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick246
Rnd7
Jaylin Smith
The board had cheaper options than Jaylin Smith at the 246th overall pick, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
