Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall
B-
ValueB-

FutureB-
Washington should have been long gone. The Jaguars pounced, and earned a B-. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Tahj Washington, the No. 189 name on the board, stolen at the 212th overall pick. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The cost of the Travis reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
In pick 17 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48
Rnd2
Kris Jenkins
Kris Jenkins at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick96
Rnd3
Caelen Carson
By-the-book stuff, Caelen Carson at Round 3, Pick 33 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick114
Rnd4
Matt Goncalves
Matt Goncalves in slot 114 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick116
Rnd4
James Williams
James Williams in pick No. 116 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick153
Rnd5
Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis at No. 153 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick212
Rnd6
Tahj Washington
Tahj Washington in the 212th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick236
Rnd7
Sheridan Jones
A tidy bit of business in the 236th overall pick, where Sheridan Jones graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
