Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Jaguars for Gore Jr.: B.

Somebody in the Round 6 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Jaguars sat still while Frank Gore Jr., the No. 166 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

Reaching for Nugent left real value on the table behind him. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 JC Latham
In pick No. 17 they get a long-term starter on the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick66 Rnd3 T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat in slot 66 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick71 Rnd3 Caelen Carson
They did well to land Caelen Carson in Round 3, Pick 7, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick96 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
A premium they did not need to pay, Khyree Jackson a notch or two before his time. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick115 Rnd4 Drake Nugent
Value said wait; Drake Nugent in the 115th overall pick says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick116 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in pick 116 is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick155 Rnd5 Cedric Johnson
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cedric Johnson. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick195 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
Somehow Frank Gore Jr. was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick196 Rnd6 Christian Jones
Nothing to complain about; Christian Jones went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick211 Rnd6 Trevor Keegan
The board had cheaper options than Trevor Keegan at Round 6, Pick 36, and it noticed. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick227 Rnd7 Taulia Tagovailoa
A tidy little value on Taulia Tagovailoa in pick No. 227, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick237 Rnd7 Zakhari Franklin
A tidy bit of business in the 237th pick, where Zakhari Franklin graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
