Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall C
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Jaguars for Rourke: C.

You could see the war room lean forward. Kurtis Rourke at the 182nd pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. For now it grades a C, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through safety. They will need Walker to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Will Johnson
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
A tidy little value on Omarion Hampton in pick No. 36, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick70 Rnd3 Deone Walker
They liked Deone Walker enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 70. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick88 Rnd3 Zy Alexander
A reach for Zy Alexander in the 88th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick107 Rnd4 Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton in Round 4, Pick 5 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick126 Rnd4 Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe in pick 126 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick142 Rnd5 Cody Simon
Cody Simon slid further than he should have, and the 142nd pick is lovely value for the linebacker. The roster fit checks out.
Pick153 Rnd5 Logan Brown
They let Logan Brown come to them and pounced at No. 153. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick182 Rnd6 Kurtis Rourke
Kurtis Rourke at Round 6, Pick 6 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick194 Rnd6 Kyle Williams
Kyle Williams in the 194th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick221 Rnd7 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Somehow Dont'e Thornton Jr. was still sitting there in pick No. 221, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
