The steal of the weekend belongs to the Jaguars and Gadsden II: B+. When a board-topper like Oronde Gadsden II slides to Round 6, Pick 6, you do not overthink it, and the Jaguars did not. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In pick 5 they get a load in the middle. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant slid further than he should have, and pick No. 36 is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick88
Rnd3
Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. at the 88th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Pick106
Rnd4
Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at Round 4, Pick 5 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The roster fit checks out.
Pick125
Rnd4
Jaylin Noel
Circle this one: Jaylin Noel at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick143
Rnd5
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at No. 143 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick184
Rnd6
Oronde Gadsden II
They will replay Oronde Gadsden II at slot 184 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick196
Rnd6
Logan Brown
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Logan Brown in the 196th overall pick, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick223
Rnd7
Cobee Bryant
The board fumbled Cobee Bryant all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
