Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Jaguars cashed the board's mistake on Allen: B. The Jaguars did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and LeQuint Allen fell into the Round 6 slot.
For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Belton pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Mason Graham
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mason Graham. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick36
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori slid further than he should have, and slot 36 is lovely value for the safety. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick70
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
A straight-up fair deal on Jayden Higgins at the 70th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick88
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
Good price on Carson Schwesinger in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick107
Rnd4
Anthony Belton
A reach for Anthony Belton in Round 4, Pick 5; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick126
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce in No. 126 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick142
Rnd5
Logan Brown
Logan Brown in pick 142 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick182
Rnd6
LeQuint Allen
LeQuint Allen in pick No. 182 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick194
Rnd6
Seth McLaughlin
Seth McLaughlin at the 194th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick221
Rnd7
Upton Stout
Upton Stout in pick No. 221 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
