Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedA- TradesA+ FutureB-
The Jaguars won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B+.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Jaguars would have aced it. Luke McCaffrey at the 114th pick is 35 spots clear of where he belonged. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. King at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it. Adding Cade Otton by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Troy Fautanu
In slot 26 they get an anchor for the offensive line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick48 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
A reasonable price with a little left over, Keon Coleman in pick 48. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick57 Rnd2 Max Melton
Max Melton at pick No. 57 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick96 Rnd3 Maason Smith
A conviction pick on Maason Smith at Round 3, Pick 33 that the board grades a round light. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick114 Rnd4 Luke McCaffrey
Value said wait; Luke McCaffrey in the 114th pick says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick116 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
They paid up for Johnny Wilson at the 116th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick125 Rnd4 McKinnley Jackson
No edge and no loss on McKinnley Jackson in Round 4, Pick 25; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick153 Rnd5 Kalen King
Kalen King is a better player than the 153rd pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick212 Rnd6 Garret Greenfield
Garret Greenfield in the 212th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick236 Rnd7 Kalen DeLoach
A reach on Kalen DeLoach in pick 236; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
