Alex44 DRAFTING FOR THEJaguars
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall

FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Jaguars: B. You build a draft on nights like this. Jay Higgins had no business being available in pick No. 221, and the Jaguars did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Reaching for Gadsden II left real value on the table behind him. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Will Johnson
In the 5th overall pick they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nice patience on Nick Emmanwori, who had no business lasting to pick 36. It fills a real need, too.
Pick70
Rnd3
Deone Walker
Nothing to complain about; Deone Walker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick88
Rnd3
Jack Bech
You do not let a wide receiver like Jack Bech reach slot 88 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick107
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
Somehow Denzel Burke was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 5, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick126
Rnd4
Emery Jones Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Emery Jones Jr. at the 126th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick142
Rnd5
Oronde Gadsden II
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Oronde Gadsden II well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick182
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
Fair-plus on JJ Pegues, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick194
Rnd6
Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne at the Round 6 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick221
Rnd7
Jay Higgins
They will replay Jay Higgins at pick No. 221 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
