Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall
B
ValueB+
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Jaguars a B. The Jaguars looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Zion Logue at Round 7, Pick 16 regardless, 50 picks early. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Mitchell. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 9 of the wish list covered. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
A slide stopped in the 17th pick, with Rome Odunze worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick48
Rnd2
Quinyon Mitchell
Quinyon Mitchell in the 48th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick96
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
Taking Mike Sainristil in pick 96 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick114
Rnd4
Javon Foster
Javon Foster in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick116
Rnd4
Jalen McMillan
Jalen McMillan at pick No. 116 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick153
Rnd5
Walter Rouse
Walter Rouse in Round 5, Pick 17 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick212
Rnd6
Trente Jones
Circle this one: Trente Jones at Round 6, Pick 37 is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick236
Rnd7
Zion Logue
Zion Logue at pick 236 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
