Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall D
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureA+
The Jaguars let Milton III fall into their laps, and walked away with a D.

Somebody took the Jaguars to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

The Robinson pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, linebacker and other spots still on the board. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.

The Milton III pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The cost of the Lloyd reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In slot 17 they get a problem off the edge. More want than need.
Pick48 Rnd2 Bo Nix
The board fumbled Bo Nix all the way to the 48th pick, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick58 Rnd2 Kiran Amegadjie
They did well to land Kiran Amegadjie in the 58th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick79 Rnd3 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at No. 79 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick89 Rnd3 Tykee Smith
They paid sticker price for Tykee Smith in Round 3, Pick 26, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick95 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
They jumped the gun on Khyree Jackson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick96 Rnd3 Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
Jarvis Brownlee Jr. at No. 96 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick115 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick117 Rnd4 MarShawn Lloyd
They paid up for MarShawn Lloyd at slot 117 when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick127 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
They bypassed pressing needs at interior defensive lineman, linebacker and other spots to take Darius Robinson, an edge rusher that was not the priority.
Pick133 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
They read the board right and Sataoa Laumea was the payoff at pick 133. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick152 Rnd5 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in Round 5, Pick 16 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick158 Rnd5 Keith Randolph Jr.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Keith Randolph Jr.. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick172 Rnd5 Grayson Murphy
They took Grayson Murphy at par in the 172nd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick195 Rnd6 Ethan Driskell
A clean, defensible pick in Round 6, Pick 20 with a little surplus value in Ethan Driskell. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick204 Rnd6 Isaiah Williams
Isaiah Williams at pick 204 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick211 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III at the 211th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick234 Rnd7 J.J. Weaver
By-the-book stuff, J.J. Weaver at No. 234 squarely in line with his ranking. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick250 Rnd7 Daequan Hardy
They will replay Daequan Hardy at slot 250 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
