Nobody dealt better than the Titans this weekend: B+. Nobody had Akheem Mesidor this high, and it is not close. The Titans reached 171 spots to get him at Round 6, Pick 39.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Landing Johnson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Abdul Carter
In slot 2 they get a bendy edge with upside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Tre Harris
Tre Harris at pick 35 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick47
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick102
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
They reached a country mile for Joshua Farmer at No. 102, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick119
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
The board fumbled Tez Johnson all the way to the 119th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick142
Rnd5
Luke Kandra
Circle this one: Luke Kandra at the 142nd pick is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick168
Rnd5
Tyler Cooper
Tyler Cooper in the 168th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick217
Rnd6
Akheem Mesidor
This one needs a full-page explanation: Akheem Mesidor in slot 217, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick241
Rnd7
Steven Parker
Steven Parker at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick257
Rnd7
KJ Jefferson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for KJ Jefferson. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
