Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Bears.

The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named edge rusher, a need the Bears walked right past. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Cowing. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
They took Marvin Harrison Jr. at par in pick 1, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick9 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the 9th overall pick they get a blindside protector at fair value.
Pick75 Rnd3 Byron Murphy II
A reasonable price with a little left over, Byron Murphy II in Round 3, Pick 11. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick110 Rnd4 Max Melton
A straight-up fair deal on Max Melton at No. 110, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick127 Rnd4 Ray Davis
Ray Davis at pick No. 127 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick146 Rnd5 McCallan Castles
McCallan Castles at the 146th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick186 Rnd6 Jacob Cowing
Jacob Cowing slid further than he should have, and slot 186 is lovely value for the wide receiver. The roster fit checks out.
Pick232 Rnd7 Jason Henderson
No drama and no debate, Jason Henderson went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. It fills a real need, too.
