Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB+
The Bears fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Bears reached some 96 spots for Trey Moore, and value like that does not grow back. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

Reed falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.

The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Josh Simmons
In slot 14 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
They robbed the room for Malaki Starks here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick45 Rnd2 Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
A straight-up fair deal on Alfred Collins at No. 58, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick72 Rnd3 Tre Harris
Tre Harris at the 72nd pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick89 Rnd3 Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild in Round 3, Pick 25 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick149 Rnd5 Jared Wilson
Circle this one: Jared Wilson at pick 149 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick150 Rnd5 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II in Round 5, Pick 11 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick197 Rnd6 Trey Moore
They left a pile of value on the table to take Trey Moore this early at the Round 6 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick235 Rnd7 Jaylen Reed
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Jaylen Reed in the 235th pick, plain and simple. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick242 Rnd7 Trevor Etienne
The board fumbled Trevor Etienne all the way to No. 242, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
