Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Texans checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

The Texans clearly saw something nobody else did in Kyle Williams, taking him 25 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. On value alone, Blue makes the weekend a net positive. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Grey Zabel
In pick No. 25 they get protection for the quarterback, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
A straight-up fair deal on Donovan Jackson at slot 58, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick79 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott at the 79th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick90 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
A reach for Jared Wilson in the Round 3 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick146 Rnd5 Kyle Williams
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kyle Williams in Round 5, Pick 8, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick190 Rnd6 Jaydon Blue
Jaydon Blue slid further than he should have, and the 190th overall pick is lovely value for the running back. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick195 Rnd6 R.J. Mickens
R.J. Mickens at pick No. 195 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick241 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at the Round 7 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
