Draft Grade — Saints
Overall A-
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Saints for Torrence: A-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Ro Torrence at pick 239 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Crumedy to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Bottom line, with JC Latham leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 JC Latham
JC Latham at Round 1, Pick 19 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick52 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
The board had Xavier Legette higher than slot 52, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick83 Rnd3 DJ James
They robbed the room for DJ James here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick99 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
A tidy bit of business in the 99th overall pick, where Dominick Puni graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick149 Rnd5 James Williams
James Williams in the Round 5 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick150 Rnd5 Javon Foster
They barely believed it either: Javon Foster still on the board at pick No. 150. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick154 Rnd5 Jalyx Hunt
By-the-book stuff, Jalyx Hunt at No. 154 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick155 Rnd5 Chau Smith-Wade
You do not let a cornerback like Chau Smith-Wade reach the 155th pick and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick168 Rnd5 Dallin Holker
Dallin Holker at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick170 Rnd5 Braiden McGregor
Braiden McGregor in pick No. 170 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick175 Rnd5 Anthony Gould
Anthony Gould at the 175th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick190 Rnd6 Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan in No. 190 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick199 Rnd6 Justin Rogers
Fair-plus on Justin Rogers, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick209 Rnd6 Jaden Crumedy
Jaden Crumedy at the 209th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick239 Rnd7 Ro Torrence
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Ro Torrence in pick 239, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
