Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Steelers shredded theirs for Jordan Hall. He came off 74 spots early, and the room will hear about it. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

Landing Allar that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In the 19th pick they get a matchup problem out wide. A real need, handled.
Pick52 Rnd2 Jayden Maiava
Jayden Maiava at the 52nd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick79 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley in Round 3, Pick 15 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick83 Rnd3 Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis in slot 83 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick99 Rnd3 Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham at pick 99 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick120 Rnd4 Xavier Nwankpa
Value said wait; Xavier Nwankpa in the Round 4 slot says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick133 Rnd4 Davison Igbinosun
A big swing on Davison Igbinosun at No. 133, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
Pick159 Rnd5 Duce Robinson
A reach for Duce Robinson in the 159th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick181 Rnd5 Drew Allar
Drew Allar in pick 181 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick201 Rnd6 Brandon Inniss
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Brandon Inniss well ahead of where he belonged. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick214 Rnd6 Alex Birchmeier
They reached into another round for Alex Birchmeier, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick234 Rnd7 Jordan Hall
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jordan Hall. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
