Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Raiders bet the future on Mendoza. The board says B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Jermod McCoy at the Round 4 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

Fernando Mendoza is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.

On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In the 1st overall pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Spencer Fano
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Spencer Fano in the 36th pick, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick67 Rnd3 Mansoor Delane
Steal is underselling it; Mansoor Delane at No. 67 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick102 Rnd4 Carnell Tate
Taking Carnell Tate in Round 4, Pick 2 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick117 Rnd4 David Bailey
David Bailey in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick134 Rnd4 Jermod McCoy
Jermod McCoy in pick 134 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
