TradesA+
FutureA+
The Bears worked the phones like thieves and earned a A-. The real work happened on the phones. The Bears fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Van Pran proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
On value alone, Edwards makes the weekend a net positive. The veteran additions, James Conner chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Malik Nabers
In pick 4 they get a matchup problem out wide. A real need, handled.
Pick23
Rnd1
Jared Verse
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jared Verse in No. 23. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick27
Rnd1
Jordan Morgan
In the 27th pick they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Kamren Kinchens
They took Kamren Kinchens at par in Round 2, Pick 3, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick75
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at slot 75 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick111
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
Fair-plus on Khyree Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick123
Rnd4
Tyrice Knight
Value with a capital V on Tyrice Knight in pick No. 123, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick143
Rnd5
Daijun Edwards
The board had Daijun Edwards higher than the Round 5 slot, and the running back fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
