Draft Grade — Bills

FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Bills: B-. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bills were there to profit. Brashard Smith, the No. 138 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 170. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The TeSlaa pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up.
They will answer for taking cornerback early while linebacker, safety and other spots went begging.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Landon Jackson
In the 30th pick they get juice off the edge, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick62
Rnd2
Darien Porter
A reach on Darien Porter in No. 62; the board had better options right there. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick63
Rnd2
Deone Walker
Deone Walker in pick No. 63 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick86
Rnd3
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at Round 3, Pick 22 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick109
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
A surprising call. With linebacker, safety and other spots still to address, they spent the Round 4 slot on Jacob Parrish, a cornerback they were not short of.
Pick170
Rnd5
Brashard Smith
They will replay Brashard Smith at No. 170 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick173
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They went early on Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick 173, and the value did not follow. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick177
Rnd6
Connor Colby
They jumped the gun on Connor Colby, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick203
Rnd6
Thomas Fidone II
Thomas Fidone II in slot 203 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick206
Rnd6
Isaac TeSlaa
They reached into another round for Isaac TeSlaa, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick214
Rnd6
Carson Vinson
Value said wait; Carson Vinson in No. 214 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
