Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B
ValueB NeedB- TradesB+ FutureB-
Grand theft in the 31st overall pick: the Commanders steal Stone and grade out a B.

Call it larceny. David Stone sat on the board until No. 31, and the Commanders did not need to be asked twice.

A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. Reaching for Harbor left real value on the table behind him. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 David Stone
In the Round 1 slot they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41 Rnd2 Chris Cole
Chris Cole slid further than he should have, and No. 41 is lovely value for the linebacker. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick63 Rnd2 Jyaire Hill
Jyaire Hill in pick 63 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick71 Rnd3 Nyck Harbor
They went early on Nyck Harbor in Round 3, Pick 7, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick83 Rnd3 Corey Myrick
A premium they did not need to pay, Corey Myrick a notch or two before his time. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick95 Rnd3 Kade Pieper
Nice patience on Kade Pieper, who had no business lasting to pick No. 95. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick119 Rnd4 Jayden Jackson
They took Jayden Jackson at par in slot 119, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick145 Rnd5 Drew Bobo
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Drew Bobo. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick185 Rnd6 Mason Curtis
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Mason Curtis in pick 185. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick196 Rnd6 Christian Alliegro
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Alliegro at slot 196, value and slot in agreement. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick223 Rnd7 Jay'Vion Cole
Jay'Vion Cole at the 223rd pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
