FutureC+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the 49ers to a D-. The trade table was where it all came apart. The 49ers shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.
Every board in the league had Milton III lower, and that gap is the story. However the rest shakes out, Bishop at that price is a win they earned.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
A clean, defensible pick in No. 17 with a little surplus value in Dallas Turner. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick31
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In the 31st overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick48
Rnd2
Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson at the 48th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick63
Rnd2
Mike Sainristil
A reach for Mike Sainristil in the Round 2 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick94
Rnd3
Trey Benson
Trey Benson at slot 94 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick123
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop at pick No. 123 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick124
Rnd4
Tyler Davis
Tyler Davis in Round 4, Pick 24 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick127
Rnd4
Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson at pick 127 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick131
Rnd4
Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten in No. 131 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick153
Rnd5
Tommy Eichenberg
The board had Tommy Eichenberg higher than the Round 5 slot, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick176
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
They left a pile of value on the table to take Joe Milton III this early at the 176th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
Fair-plus on Jared Wiley, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick215
Rnd6
Nathaniel Watson
A straight-up fair deal on Nathaniel Watson at pick 215, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick251
Rnd7
Marcellas Dial
A slide stopped in Round 7, Pick 31, with Marcellas Dial worth more than the price. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
