Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
D
ValueB-

FutureB-
The phones sank the Seahawks this weekend: D. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Seahawks took Noah Thomas a full 104 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Put together, it is a D.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Hall at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In No. 32 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick64
Rnd2
Michael Taaffe
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Michael Taaffe at the Round 2 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick96
Rnd3
Skyler Bell
Skyler Bell slid further than he should have, and the 96th overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick100
Rnd3
Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at slot 100 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick211
Rnd6
Zxavian Harris
A reach on Zxavian Harris in Round 6, Pick 32; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
Pick213
Rnd6
Jalen Huskey
The board had cheaper options than Jalen Huskey at pick 213, and it noticed. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick214
Rnd6
Jeff Caldwell
A premium they did not need to pay, Jeff Caldwell a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick236
Rnd7
Andre Fuller
A reasonable price with a little left over, Andre Fuller in the 236th pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick243
Rnd7
J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick244
Rnd7
TJ Hall
A cornerback of that caliber at No. 244 is the definition of value, full stop. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick254
Rnd7
Brett Norfleet
They reached a country mile for Brett Norfleet at pick No. 254, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick257
Rnd7
Noah Thomas
They left a pile of value on the table to take Noah Thomas this early at the 257th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
