Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB+
The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Daniels: D.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Jayson Jones in slot 227, a good 69 spots before the room expected him.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Everything downstream of Jayden Daniels depends on Jayden Daniels, and the building knows it. However the rest shakes out, Sanders at that price is a win they earned.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Joe Alt
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
A straight-up fair deal on Jayden Daniels at the 9th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick27 Rnd1 Adonai Mitchell
In slot 27 they get a No. 1 receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Jonah Elliss
By-the-book stuff, Jonah Elliss at Round 2, Pick 3 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick44 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
They paid sticker price for Jackson Powers-Johnson in No. 44, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick66 Rnd3 D.J. James
No edge and no loss on D.J. James in the 66th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at slot 67 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Ja'Tavion Sanders
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Ja'Tavion Sanders in the 75th overall pick, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick77 Rnd3 Tyler Davis
Tyler Davis in the Round 3 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick117 Rnd4 Javon Foster
Javon Foster in Round 4, Pick 17 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick122 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop at No. 122 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick146 Rnd5 Isaiah Davis
They reached a country mile for Isaiah Davis at pick 146, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick150 Rnd5 Cedric Gray
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 150, where Cedric Gray graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick193 Rnd6 Kenny Logan Jr.
They went early on Kenny Logan Jr. in the 193rd pick, and the value did not follow. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick225 Rnd7 Xavier Thomas
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Xavier Thomas. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick227 Rnd7 Jayson Jones
A real head-scratcher, Jayson Jones in Round 7, Pick 7 is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
