Ramsfan69 DRAFTING FOR THERams

Draft Grade — Rams
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Rams let Bertrand fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-. Somebody in the 254th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Rams sat still while JD Bertrand, the No. 221 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In No. 19 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick52
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper at pick 52 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick83
Rnd3
Brandon Dorlus
Fair-plus on Brandon Dorlus, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick99
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
Nice patience on Dominick Puni, who had no business lasting to Round 3, Pick 36. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson at the Round 5 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick155
Rnd5
Dwight McGlothern
A straight-up fair deal on Dwight McGlothern at slot 155, value and slot in agreement. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick196
Rnd6
Ryan Flournoy
Ryan Flournoy at the 196th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick209
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
A clean, defensible pick in the 209th overall pick with a little surplus value in Jared Wiley. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick213
Rnd6
Cornelius Johnson
Cornelius Johnson at pick No. 213 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick217
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Joe Milton III at slot 217. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick254
Rnd7
JD Bertrand
They barely believed it either: JD Bertrand still on the board at Round 7, Pick 34. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
