FutureA
A solid, sensible weekend for the Bears: B. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Bears reached some 93 spots for Ty Robinson, and value like that does not grow back.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. That Longerbeam pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In pick 11 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick39
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
A quiet steal in pick No. 39: Jalon Walker for less than the market said. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick72
Rnd3
Ty Robinson
Ty Robinson at slot 72 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick76
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
They let Quinshon Judkins come to them and pounced at the 76th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick147
Rnd5
Jonas Sanker
Jonas Sanker slid further than he should have, and the Round 5 slot is lovely value for the safety. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick160
Rnd5
Tommi Hill
No drama and no debate, Tommi Hill went about where he belonged in No. 160. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick227
Rnd7
Ricky White III
Ricky White III at the Round 7 slot is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick233
Rnd7
CJ Dippre
CJ Dippre at the 233rd overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick240
Rnd7
Robert Longerbeam
They will replay Robert Longerbeam at No. 240 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick247
Rnd7
Jamon Dumas-Johnson
No edge and no loss on Jamon Dumas-Johnson in the 247th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
