Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Saints cashed the board's mistake on Slaughter: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Jake Slaughter at Round 3, Pick 9 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They are betting Oke proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In pick No. 8 they get a workhorse for the backfield. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick42 Rnd2 Elijah Sarratt
They took Elijah Sarratt at par in pick 42, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick73 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
A offensive lineman of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 9 is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick132 Rnd4 David Oke
They jumped the gun on David Oke, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick136 Rnd4 Beau Stephens
By-the-book stuff, Beau Stephens at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick148 Rnd5 Tanner Koziol
Tanner Koziol in No. 148 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick170 Rnd5 Xavier Nwankpa
They paid sticker price for Xavier Nwankpa in slot 170, and that is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick188 Rnd6 DJ Harvey
No drama and no debate, DJ Harvey went about where he belonged in the 188th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
