Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B
ValueB-

TradesA+
FutureB-
The Bears won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B. Nobody else had Isaac TeSlaa anywhere near the 148th overall pick. The Bears did, by 85 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Emmanwori at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They chose more darts over a bigger single swing.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In the 23rd overall pick they get a seam-stretching tight end. Need was not the driver here.
Pick39
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Steal is underselling it; Nick Emmanwori at the 39th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick41
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
A tidy bit of business in Round 2, Pick 9, where Derrick Harmon graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick45
Rnd2
Donovan Ezeiruaku
The board had cheaper options than Donovan Ezeiruaku at No. 45, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick54
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
A straight-up fair deal on TreVeyon Henderson at pick 54, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick59
Rnd2
Danny Stutsman
A big swing on Danny Stutsman at the Round 2 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick97
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
No edge and no loss on Jared Wilson in slot 97; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick139
Rnd5
Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce at Round 5, Pick 1 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick148
Rnd5
Isaac TeSlaa
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Isaac TeSlaa. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick232
Rnd7
Robert Longerbeam
Robert Longerbeam at pick 232 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick233
Rnd7
Carson Vinson
Nothing to complain about; Carson Vinson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick240
Rnd7
Kitan Crawford
No drama and no debate, Kitan Crawford went about where he belonged in the 240th overall pick. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
