There is conviction, and then there is this. The 49ers took Jack Westover a full 70 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

That McCaffrey pick is the receipt they will wave around later. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They will answer for taking OLB-EDGE early while quarterback, edge rusher and other spots went begging.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
