Draft Grade — Titans

Ward is the plan now, and the Titans grade out a B-. The Titans clearly saw something nobody else did in Davin Vann, taking him 67 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
Whatever Cam Ward becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. If one pick saves this weekend, it is King.
They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In the 1st pick they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
Nice patience on Malaki Starks, who had no business lasting to pick No. 35. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick103
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson at Round 4, Pick 1 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick120
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander slid further than he should have, and the Round 4 slot is lovely value for the cornerback. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick149
Rnd5
Kobe King
Taking Kobe King in No. 149 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick167
Rnd5
Jalen Rivers
They did well to land Jalen Rivers in pick 167, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick178
Rnd6
Chase Lundt
Good price on Chase Lundt in pick No. 178, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick188
Rnd6
Jason Marshall Jr.
A wild overpay on Jason Marshall Jr. in slot 188, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick211
Rnd6
Davin Vann
A big swing on Davin Vann at the Round 6 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
