A masterclass at the trade table lands the Bears a B+.

The real work happened on the phones. The Bears fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.

The Smith pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots still on the board. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The veteran additions, Tristan Wirfs chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
