Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall D
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
A franchise passer in Williams headlines a D weekend for the Vikings.

The phones were a trap the Vikings kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.

Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. McCormick has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it. They banked enough surplus on Holker to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In No. 11 they get the face of the franchise, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick15 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
They paid sticker price for Dallas Turner in the Round 1 slot, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick42 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at pick 42 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick46 Rnd2 Kamari Lassiter
Nothing to complain about; Kamari Lassiter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick82 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
A reasonable price with a little left over, Sedrick Van Pran in Round 3, Pick 18. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick109 Rnd4 Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice is a better player than slot 109 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick130 Rnd4 Mason McCormick
Mason McCormick in the 130th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick156 Rnd5 Dylan Laube
Fair-plus on Dylan Laube, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick166 Rnd5 Khristian Boyd
They paid up for Khristian Boyd at No. 166 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick179 Rnd6 Dallin Holker
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Dallin Holker in slot 179, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick190 Rnd6 Brandon Coleman
A tidy bit of business in the Round 6 slot, where Brandon Coleman graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick229 Rnd7 Jaylen Harrell
Jaylen Harrell at pick 229 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
