Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB TradesA+ FutureF
The Cowboys fleeced the room on the phones and earned a C+.

You can hear the double-takes from here. The Cowboys took Braelon Allen at No. 125, roughly 34 spots before his name belonged.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. However the rest shakes out, Wright at that price is a win they earned.

They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In pick 27 they get protection for the quarterback, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick30 Rnd1 T'Vondre Sweat
In slot 30 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
Pick43 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton at the 43rd pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick56 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell at Round 2, Pick 24 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
They took Cooper Beebe at par in the 75th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick87 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
Good price on Mike Sainristil in pick No. 87, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick125 Rnd4 Braelon Allen
They left a pile of value on the table to take Braelon Allen this early at slot 125. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jaylen Wright
Jaylen Wright at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick209 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
Gabe Hall at pick 209 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick213 Rnd6 De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark in pick No. 213 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick242 Rnd7 Nathaniel Watson
The board had cheaper options than Nathaniel Watson at the 242nd pick, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
