The Commanders drew a line under the quarterback search with Maye: B.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

If Sherman pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

By-the-book stuff, Drake Maye at No. 3 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick34 Rnd2 Graham Barton
They took Graham Barton at par in the 34th pick, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick36 Rnd2 Troy Franklin
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 4, with Troy Franklin worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick40 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
Tyler Guyton in pick 40 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick67 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
A reach on Christian Haynes in the Round 3 slot; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

A straight-up fair deal on Khyree Jackson at pick No. 100, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
