Draft Grade — Texans
Overall

A solid, sensible weekend for the Texans: B-. Hard to follow the map here. The Texans bypassed running back, interior defensive lineman and other spots to take Maason Smith at pick 95, a spot they had covered. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Mitchell left real value on the table behind him. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Smith.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get juice off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick53
Rnd2
Adonai Mitchell
Value said wait; Adonai Mitchell in Round 2, Pick 21 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick95
Rnd3
Maason Smith
A surprising call. With running back, interior defensive lineman and other spots still to address, they spent the 95th overall pick on Maason Smith, a DT-EDGE they were not short of.
