Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Raiders let Mukuba fall into their laps, and walked away with a B+.

If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Raiders, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

They banked enough surplus on Mukuba to cover a lot of smaller sins. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Barrow Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick37 Rnd2 Luther Burden III
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Luther Burden III worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick68 Rnd3 Maxwell Hairston
By-the-book stuff, Maxwell Hairston at No. 68 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick108 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
They will replay Andrew Mukuba at pick No. 108 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick143 Rnd5 Kurtis Rourke
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kurtis Rourke in slot 143. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick180 Rnd6 Damien Martinez
The board fumbled Damien Martinez all the way to Round 6, Pick 4, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick213 Rnd6 Caleb Rogers
Caleb Rogers at the 213th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick215 Rnd6 Simeon Barrow Jr.
Simeon Barrow Jr. at No. 215 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick222 Rnd7 Caleb Ransaw
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Caleb Ransaw at Round 7, Pick 6. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
