Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
Larceny in the 143rd overall pick lands the Bengals a B+, Belton and all.

Thirty-one other rooms let Anthony Belton slide, and the Bengals were the ones holding the card at pick 143. Highway robbery. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. If Fairchild pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In the 22nd overall pick they get a red-zone target to build around at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick49 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
The board fumbled Derrick Harmon all the way to Round 2, Pick 17, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick56 Rnd2 Josaiah Stewart
Josaiah Stewart at slot 56 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick81 Rnd3 Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild at pick No. 81 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick119 Rnd4 Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong in pick 119 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick143 Rnd5 Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton in No. 143 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick153 Rnd5 Jonas Sanker
Circle this one: Jonas Sanker at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick193 Rnd6 RJ Harvey
A top-tier running back at a bargain, RJ Harvey in the 193rd pick, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick206 Rnd6 Antwane Wells Jr.
Antwane Wells Jr. at pick No. 206 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick256 Rnd7 Cam Horsley
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with Cam Horsley worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
