You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The 49ers did exactly that with Dwight McGlothern in pick 177.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
