Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B+
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesA+
FutureB-
The Ravens fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+. The Ravens spent real capital to be 111 picks early on Ethan Downs, and the board is going to hold them to it. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
The McCord pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The veteran additions, David Edwards chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick38
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
A tidy bit of business in No. 38, where Kenneth Grant graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick56
Rnd2
Cameron Williams
They will replay Cameron Williams at the 56th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick61
Rnd2
Trey Amos
They read the board right and Trey Amos was the payoff at pick 61. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick66
Rnd3
Jordan Burch
Jordan Burch at slot 66 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick106
Rnd4
Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild at pick No. 106 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick128
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in the 128th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Pick136
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
The board fumbled Hollin Pierce all the way to Round 4, Pick 34, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick171
Rnd5
Ethan Downs
Ethan Downs at the 171st overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick176
Rnd5
Kyle McCord
Kyle McCord in No. 176 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick183
Rnd6
Gino Garcia
They left a pile of value on the table to take Gino Garcia this early at the 183rd pick. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick203
Rnd6
Collin Oliver
Collin Oliver in slot 203 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick243
Rnd7
Antwane Wells Jr.
Somehow Antwane Wells Jr. was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
