No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Jaguars.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Jaguars reached some 23 spots for Tim Smith, and value like that does not grow back. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. Getting James where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.

In pick 23 they get a disruptive interior force, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.

They took Ricky Pearsall at par in pick 201, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.

Duce Chestnut at the Round 6 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
