Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Jaguars: B-. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Jaguars spent slot 244 on Justin Eboigbe, a name the board had a full 28 spots lower. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Spending an early pick on edge rusher with wide receiver, offensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Eichenberg at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In slot 23 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. More want than need.
Pick55
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Chris Braswell at edge rusher with wide receiver, offensive lineman and other spots open.
Pick87
Rnd3
Caelen Carson
A tidy bit of business in No. 87, where Caelen Carson graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick96
Rnd3
Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse at the 96th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick113
Rnd4
Cam Hart
The board had Cam Hart higher than Round 4, Pick 13, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick123
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tommy Eichenberg at the Round 4 slot is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick160
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at No. 160 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick201
Rnd6
Jasheen Davis
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jasheen Davis. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jaylon Carlies
They went early on Jaylon Carlies in Round 6, Pick 36, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick244
Rnd7
Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at the 244th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
