Draft Grade — Bears

The Bears turned the phones into found money: A-. Whoever sat across the table from the Bears should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The veteran additions, Danielle Hunter chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. The Williams reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick16
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In the Round 1 slot they get juice off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at the 43rd pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick74
Rnd3
Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley in pick No. 74 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick81
Rnd3
Blake Corum
A clean, defensible pick in No. 81 with a little surplus value in Blake Corum. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick110
Rnd4
Malik Washington
Malik Washington in pick 110 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick118
Rnd4
James Williams
A reach on James Williams in slot 118; the board had better options right there. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick122
Rnd4
Cam Hart
They jumped the gun on Cam Hart, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick146
Rnd5
Malik Mustapha
Nice patience on Malik Mustapha, who had no business lasting to pick 146. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
