Draft Grade — Commanders

Some hits, some head-scratchers, and a C+ for the Commanders. The tape said wait; the Commanders did not. Oluwafemi Oladejo went at pick 98, a good 42 picks before the board was ready. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. If one pick saves this weekend, it is McMillan. They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In pick No. 29 they get a home-run threat at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick67
Rnd3
Darien Porter
The board had cheaper options than Darien Porter at pick 67, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick98
Rnd3
Oluwafemi Oladejo
Oluwafemi Oladejo in No. 98 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick104
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
Nice patience on Kevin Winston Jr., who had no business lasting to Round 4, Pick 2. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick128
Rnd4
Cody Simon
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cody Simon. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick135
Rnd4
Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten in the Round 4 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick205
Rnd6
Cam Jackson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Cam Jackson this early at pick 205. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick245
Rnd7
Jalen Travis
They reached into another round for Jalen Travis, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick255
Rnd7
Garrett Dellinger
Value said wait; Garrett Dellinger in Round 7, Pick 39 says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
