Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesC+ FutureB
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Cowboys: B.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Cowboys took Jasheen Davis a full 111 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

The Parrish pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In pick No. 14 they get a featured back at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick44 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at Round 2, Pick 12 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick76 Rnd3 Carson Schwesinger
Nothing to complain about; Carson Schwesinger went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick117 Rnd4 Kyle Williams
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Kyle Williams. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick149 Rnd5 Jacob Parrish
A cornerback of that caliber at the 149th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick171 Rnd5 Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley at the 171st pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick174 Rnd5 Jaylen Reed
A premium they did not need to pay, Jaylen Reed a notch or two before his time. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick204 Rnd6 Jack Nelson
Circle this one: Jack Nelson at the 204th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick211 Rnd6 Addison West
Addison West at pick 211 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick239 Rnd7 Ty Hamilton
They paid a round early for Ty Hamilton in the Round 7 slot, more than the board wanted. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick247 Rnd7 Jasheen Davis
Jasheen Davis at pick No. 247 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
