Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

Good, not great, for the Cowboys: B. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Cowboys started one anyway for Barryn Sorrell, 99 picks ahead of schedule. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Bech falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Travis Hunter
In the 12th overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick44
Rnd2
Jaxson Dart
Good price on Jaxson Dart in pick No. 44, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick76
Rnd3
Dylan Sampson
They read the board right and Dylan Sampson was the payoff at pick 76. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick150
Rnd5
Jack Bech
Jack Bech at the 150th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick170
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
No drama and no debate, JJ Pegues went about where he belonged in slot 170. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick172
Rnd5
Jay Higgins
By-the-book stuff, Jay Higgins at Round 5, Pick 33 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick174
Rnd5
Addison West
They left a pile of value on the table to take Addison West this early at Round 5, Pick 35. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick190
Rnd6
Jack Nelson
Taking Jack Nelson in the Round 6 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick211
Rnd6
Barryn Sorrell
Barryn Sorrell at pick No. 211 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick249
Rnd7
Jasheen Davis
Jasheen Davis in pick 249 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
