The tape said wait; the Cowboys did not. Torricelli Simpkins III went at Round 6, Pick 35, a good 53 picks before the board was ready.

The Johnson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
