HR DRAFTING FOR THECowboys

Good, not great, for the Cowboys: B. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Cowboys shredded theirs for Davin Vann. He came off 60 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
They banked enough surplus on Longerbeam to cover a lot of smaller sins. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The back end got a real overhaul.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Travis Hunter
In No. 12 they get a press-man option on the boundary, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
The board had cheaper options than TreVeyon Henderson at slot 44, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
Somehow Jayden Higgins was still sitting there in the 76th overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick149
Rnd5
Cody Simon
The board fumbled Cody Simon all the way to Round 5, Pick 11, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick171
Rnd5
Chase Lundt
By-the-book stuff, Chase Lundt at pick 171 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick174
Rnd5
Willie Lampkin
No drama and no debate, Willie Lampkin went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick204
Rnd6
Howard Cross III
A premium they did not need to pay, Howard Cross III a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick211
Rnd6
Davin Vann
Davin Vann in pick 211 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick239
Rnd7
Jordan Hancock
You do not let a safety like Jordan Hancock reach the 239th overall pick and blink. They did not. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick247
Rnd7
Robert Longerbeam
Robert Longerbeam in No. 247 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
