FutureB+
Good, not great, for the Cowboys: B. Some picks age like wine; Jack Kiser at No. 149 will need to, sitting 30 spots clear of his grade.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That Hill pick is the receipt they will wave around later. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
In the Round 1 slot they get an every-down engine for the run game at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick44
Rnd2
Tre Harris
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tre Harris. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick76
Rnd3
Darien Porter
They paid sticker price for Darien Porter in slot 76, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick149
Rnd5
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser at pick 149 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick151
Rnd5
Tyler Shough
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyler Shough at the 151st pick is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick171
Rnd5
Tommi Hill
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 33, with Tommi Hill worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick174
Rnd5
Clay Webb
Clay Webb at No. 174 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick204
Rnd6
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
Nothing to complain about; Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick211
Rnd6
Simeon Barrow Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Simeon Barrow Jr. at the Round 6 slot, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick239
Rnd7
Davin Vann
This one needs a full-page explanation: Davin Vann in pick 239, miles early. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick247
Rnd7
Cody Lindenberg
Cody Lindenberg at slot 247 is a conviction pick that outran the value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
